Working full time as a musical director, vocal leader and composer, James loves the power that music has to help people develop themselves and to bond with others.
He works regularly with the Southbank Centre, and has just finished a contemporary opera project with Surrey Arts, performed at the Albert Hall. Together with Ruth, he is part of Pindrop, a ground breaking a cappella group performing only their own material.
Favourite projects over the last year include conducting 900 singers on stage at the Royal Festival Hall, and working with over fifty West End performers to produce Elegies at the Criterion Theatre.
Ruth is a caring, energetic and inspiring choral director, workshop leader and entrepreneur. She excels at bringing the best out of everyone she works with, in schools, community organisations and workplaces.
Making the seemingly impossible a reality and combining passion and musical excellence, she makes sure that participants and audiences alike have a vibrant and profound musical experience.
Ruth is committed to making high quality vocal experiences accessible to everyone, which she does through the choirs and singing organisations she has founded: Pram Chorus, Offbeat Choir, Vocality Singing Ltd and most recently, Choir Community.
Omar is a composer and director of opera and music theatre. He has recently been awarded AHRC funding to pursue a PhD in Composition of Opera for Young People at the University of York.
He specialises in composing for different communities, and has worked with most of the UK's opera education programmes. He has lead choirs for Singingworks corporate choirs and Hackney Music Development Trust, and is the current director of Royal Opera's Thurrock-based youth chorus, RM19.

There's usually a question burning at the back of everyone's head. Is the answer to yours below? If not, contact us.
A: It doesn’t matter if you reckon you're any good at singing, or whether you have experience or not. Singing is a great way to let off steam, build your confidence and your voice, and decrease your stress levels. Come along and try it - you'll surprise yourself with what you can do!
A: We understand that people have lives and other commitments so that isn’t a problem. But it is nice for the group to have pretty much the same people everyoney week so that we can finish off songs and get to sound really good.
A: Your first session at Chelsea is free, then just bring £1 with you every week. That's it!
A: A real mix of things. From uplifting African chants to Hebrew songs, via gospel, jazz, folk and classical! We sing a cappella (with no accompaniment) and love to layer up harmonies.
A: Not in the slightest! The music is available if you'd like to look at it at home, but we don't perform with music and never use it in rehearsals. We prefer to concentrate on the sound!
A: No, our choirs are open to everyone.
